Organics with Altitude and the new EU organic regulations

Interpretation of EU regulations from an Organics with Altitude perspective.

Summary:

Overall, this new EU regulation is written for the modern and geographically diverse Europe. The previous organic regulations in operation in Ireland were written for the UK, and brought across to Ireland. They especially do not suit or were not written for the uplands.

The new regulations are also fairer for small operators who direct sell.

There are a significant number of improvements with regard to encouraging the building up stock and the suitability of organic practices to specific regions which resonate well with the Organics with Altitude approach. Hopefully these regulations will help ease blockages in the system thus far.
